SUBMISSION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• Published authors are entitled to one free physical copy of Inkspot.

• To be eligible to submit, you must be a University of Melbourne student or a member of CLAWS.

• Authors retain all ownership and distribution rights to anything submitted. If you wish to publish your work with any other publication, we retain no right of exclusivity.

• You give us the right to promote your published piece on CLAWS' social media, website, and at Melbourne University associated events.

• Inkspot editions are, once complete, published on our website and digital Inkspot archive for free. While changes may be made to the method of access as we evolve over time, we will always endeavour to provide a free and open point of access for all Inkspot editions.

• You can choose to remove your work from our website and digital Inkspot archive at any point in time and CLAWS will comply as soon as possible.

• Once hard copies of Inkspot circulate, we cannot guarantee that we can recall or reprint the physical issue if you choose to remove or alter your work.

• Printed copies of Inkspot may be sold and offered at social events and in retail environments in the future. Nobody in the entire production process is offered any royalties, as any potential profit made through the book will be used for the Creative Literature and Writing Society to fund future printings as well as to help run future events for the society. Nobody on the committee or involved in the editorial process for CLAWS and Inkspot is allowed to receive financial benefit through the selling of Inkspot through CLAWS or businesses and groups partnered with CLAWS.

• CLAWS Publication Officers retain the right to reject or remove any work for any reason, at any time, at their discretion.

• Final work will not be published without the express permission of the author/illustrator. That being said, minor aesthetic changes such as font, capitalisation and indentation may be made without express permission in the interest of time and necessity by the Publications Officer even after the author’s final seal of approval for consistency’s sake.

• If the author's work is derived from or inspired by an existing franchise or media (e.g. fanfiction), we are not able to publish it unless the piece can reasonably pass as its own work. In the case of parody, satire, critique and response, pieces will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

• While the use of AI is not necessarily prohibited in work submitted to Inkspot, Publication Officers have the right to reject any or parts of pieces that have employed AI in any way to supplement the piece. Pieces that are composed of any AI generated material will be rejected unless cited extensively and appropriately.
