We hope everyone has had a great start to the year! We hope everyone is able to tackle all the writing projects you’d been to busy to focus on during the semesters!
With the new year, here are some housekeeping notices about sign ups and Summerfest, as well as opportunities to participate in some events to kick start the year!
2021 CLAWS Sign Ups
As Semester 1 will be off-campus this year, the committee has agreed that membership will be free of charge again! Make sure to sign up to be an official member of CLAWS for 2021!
2021 CLAWS Survey
We want to make sure the committee is doing everything we can to make sure your participation in CLAWS activities and events are as great as they can be. Help us out by sharing any ideas and giving your opinions on how future workshops and events should be run!
SUBMISSIONS OPEN Inkspot Ed. 1 Rising Tides
Submissions are now open for the first edition of Inkspot for 2021!
For this edition our theme is “Rising Tides”, and reflects the escalating tensions that have accompanied the transition from 2020 to the new year.
While we encourage pieces written around this theme, you are free to write about whatever you like, in whatever medium you would like to write it in.
In terms of word count, there’s no minimum, if your piece has one word that’s okay! We encourage around a max of 500 words, although if you would like to write something longer, you’re welcome to as well.
Please send your submissions to claws.unimelb@gmail.com with the subject line INKSPOT SUBMISSION by 11:59pm on Sunday the 7th of February. (Note, you must be a member of 2020 or 2021 to participate - so make sure to sign up in the link above, first!)
CLAWS Stall Summerfest 2021
We will be attending Summerfest to advertise our club this year via HopIn! If you plan to attend Summerfest, be sure to drop in and say hello at the CLAWS stall, or tell all your writer friends to come by!
This will be a great opportunity to ask us any questions that you have! Summerfest Expo will take place Week 0 and Week 1 of the Semester, so from the February 23rd to March 4th - be sure to keep an eye out on that!
COMING SOON
Keep an eye out on some of these after events that will be happening closer to the start of the Semester! Writing Competition We’re excited to hint at our plans to organise regular writing competitions that will include fun prompts, awesome prizes and hopefully a good time for everyone involved! Details are yet to be confirmed, but do keep an eye out on where we’re active for more information! Holiday Hangout Sometime tbd, but very soon, come online to our Discord server to join us for Cards Against Humanity - Writers Edition! Keep an eye out (or join our discord now) for more update! Weekly Workshops Our weekly workshops will resume with the first week of semester, for once a week, over Discord! The time and date are yet to be decided, so make sure you’ve answered the survey above to have your say about when we should run these workshops!
