To all current and deferred UniMelb students who've ever put pen to paper (or claws to keys). This is the writer and artist callout for Inkspot 2025, The Creative Literature and Writing Society’s (CLAWS) student-run creative writing anthology.
In the spirit of Summer, Inkspot is having a glow-up. In addition to short fiction and poetry, we are now welcoming other niche categories such as polemics, reviews, memoirs, scripts, comics, graphic novels, interactives and experimental literature to name a few.
As the title of this edition Archive suggests, this is the perfect excuse to dig through the dusty shelves of Finder or File Explorer and breathe new life into dormant pieces and throwaway assignments. You are equally invited to write new work in relation to the theme!

It has always been our ambition to nurture the multifarious and multicultural writers of Melbourne University. Naturally, we encourage submissions written in languages other than English. If you’d like to translate your own piece to or from English, feel free to include translations in your application.
We are looking for visual artists, typesetters and calligraphers who’d be interested in creating B&W initials/frontispieces/vignettes for Archive and/or in response to select works.
If you know someone sitting on a trove of gems that will otherwise never see the light of day (or anyone passionate about writing or illustration in general) share this publishing opportunity with them!
Submission parameters are below. If a piece does not fall under a general category, send us an email for specifications. If your text is selected, a copy editor from our editor team will work with you to finetune your piece.
Applications close on the 16th of March.
